WLS NEGOTIATES NEW HEADQUARTERS LEASE IN DC FOR THE WEINBERG GROUP

September 7, 2010 (Washington, DC) – A scientific and regulatory consulting firm is moving its Washington, DC, headquarters to a new location later this year.

West, Lane & Schlager (WLS), a leading commercial real estate brokerage firm that exclusively represents tenants, announced today that it has represented The Weinberg Group in a new multi-year lease for 18,677 square feet of office space covering the entire 6th floor at 1129 20th St. NW, a 176,350-square-foot building.

This November, The Weinberg Group will relocate from 1220 19th St. to its new DC office under a long-term lease. The key issue is that The Weinberg Group was able to lease new space 14 months before its existing lease expired. This was a situation where the firm took advantage of a weak market.

Eric West, LEED AP, a founding partner and principal of DC-based WLS, and Ganon Rich, a WLS vice president, negotiated on behalf of The Weinberg Group in this new lease transaction.

In looking for a new headquarters, The Weinberg Group considered the entire Washington market, including Capitol Hill, the Central Business District and the East End. The privately held company wanted space in a 24/7 neighborhood with retail amenities as well proximity to the Metro and its partners.

Its new space and LEED Gold building are cutting edge and will reinforce The Weinberg Group’s state-of-the-art business brand, West says. The new location also features top-quality property management and building systems.

For this lease deal, WLS provided services such as strategic planning, cost budgeting and analysis, and project-team coordination, according to West.
